My Journey
Ray was born in Malaysia where he undertook his high school and early university education. He then moved to New Zealand to complete his medical studies and stayed on to work in the ‘land of the long white cloud’ for several years.
In 2006, Ray and his family moved to Adelaide, South Australia to commence specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology training. This training saw Ray undertake various hospital rotations in both urban and regional hospitals right across in South Australia.

A successful pregnancy and term delivery provide the best possible opportunity for a child to enjoy normal health and development. Pregnancy can be an exciting and daunting time in your life.

From routine examinations, to fertility issues, pre-pregnancy counselling, and specialist surgical procedures, Dr Yoong provides a calm and sensitive environment to take care of your gynaecological and emotional needs.

- For appointments with an obstetrician you can either fax this letter or bring it with you on the day of your appointment.
- For appointments with a gynaecologist please have your GP fax your referral through to us on the number below.

New obstetric consultations take up to 40 minutes. If you are pregnant it is very important that you book with us as soon as possible to ensure your place at Ashford Private Hospital.
Fees
Dr Yoong’s staff will discuss the schedule of fees with you and will advise you on registering with the Medicare Safety Net (if you have not done so already).
In light of our fee structure, we will also ask your consent to proceed with your booking and whether we can process your Medicare rebates at time of payment. You may also choose to see us if you are a self-funding patient.
Medicare Safety Net
Did you know that individuals are automatically registered for the Medicare Safety Net? If you want to register for the Safety Net as a couple or family you will need to contact Medicare. Being registered as a couple or family means that if your spouse or children also have out of pocket medical expenses then these will contribute to the one safety net.
